Uncovering defects and recommending remediation strategies

Bruce Mason Centre, Takapuna

Return to all projects

Nestled in the hub of Takapuna, the iconic Bruce Mason Centre is only a stone’s throw from stunning Takapuna beach. Since its construction in 1995 the building has played an important role in the community hosting a raft of plays and musicals. The building operator, Regional Facilities Auckland, were concerned the building was suffering from weathertightness issues and asked us to investigate.

The project:

Initially engaged for localised investigations, our scope expanded to a full weathertightness and general condition survey. Our work involved investigation of the entire building envelope including walls, roof, and structure, to identify leaks and associated damage.

Our value add:

We completed a comprehensive report identifying the various issues and making repair recommendations, following which our quantity surveyors provided cost estimates, enabling the Regional Facilities Auckland team to evaluate the options, which included repairing the building or redeveloping the site.

Our investigation allowed the client to determine their repair strategy.
