For most New Zealand homeowners the purchase of a residential property will be their largest financial commitment. In recent times there have been changes to the Building Code and a dilution of knowledge within the building industry, which has in some instances resulted in systemic failures. Most New Zealanders are aware of the weathertightness issues commonly referred to as “Leaky Building Syndrome” and the distress it causes. However, most are unable to identify the high-risk details, from which the negative effects of moisture ingress can result.
In addition to highlighting weathertightness defects, we also assist homeowners and Body Corporates in identifying defects and non-compliance within other areas of the New Zealand Building Code, so that remedial repairs can be completed in order to bring properties up to current New Zealand codes and standards. This does not only relate to defects within buildings, it may also include maintenance planning in order to prevent deterioration or damage, thus prolonging the serviceable life of a property.
