Prior to joining Maynard Marks, Samisoni studied Biomedical Science at the University of Auckland and worked for an asbestos removal contractor, which provided him with first-hand experience of the processes at every stage.

Samisoni is very well equipped to understand asbestos management end to end as a result of a combination of his consultancy and his hands-on experience of asbestos removal. While working removing asbestos from schools, commercial and residential buildings Samisoni developed a very useful insight into the challenges faced as an asbestos removalist. This experience has provided invaluable knowledge as to the location of where asbestos exists to assist him in identifying material and obtain samples when completing asbestos surveys. This also gives him valuable insight into how Asbestos Removal Control Plans are implemented by contractors which assists him greatly when producing scopes of work for asbestos removal or reviewing plans provided by contractors on behalf of his clients.

Being involved with asbestos removal work supported Samisoni’s interest in consultancy work, which led him to joining Maynard Marks.

At Maynard Marks Samisoni assists our Licensed Asbestos Assessors to assess a wide range of buildings for asbestos containing materials (ACMs). He helps to write asbestos management surveys, demolition and refurbishment surveys and asbestos management plans. He also assists with air monitoring, asbestos clearance assessments producing scopes of work for treatment of asbestos and reviews Asbestos Removal Control Plans.

Samisoni enjoys the variety of work he is exposed to. He is currently working towards becoming a Licensed Assessor (Asbestos) through WorkSafe NZ.
