Graeme is an experienced Building Surveyor with significant knowledge of the New Zealand building industry having been involved in the sector for well over 30 years. His technical expertise is a result of his extensive involvement in all facets of carpentry and construction management.

Graeme manages our Christchurch office, putting together and overseeing multi-disciplinary teams to help clients understand and manage building performance issues as well as how to maximise their building’s life. This includes building surveyors, asbestos assessors, passive fire experts, architectural designers and project managers.

Graeme is a well-equipped Building Surveyor as a result of his professional and trade qualifications. These include Registered Building Surveyor status through the New Zealand Institute of Building Surveyors and a full 8000-hour carpentry/ joinery apprenticeship.

Graeme regularly provides the following services to clients: building investigations, earthquake surveys, design review, expert witness and asbestos assessment and management as a Licensed Asbestos Assessor. His clients comprise central and local government, organisations, commercial building owners, insurance companies, construction professionals and the general public.

Graeme has worked on a wide variety of projects involving residential housing, multi-storey construction, commercial and industry buildings, and has held a key role as a facilities manager responsible for project work and plant maintenance. This work has provided him with extensive experience in a wide variety of building types, construction methods and materials across the built environment.

During his previous employment at Christchurch City Council, Graeme gained significant experience in the various facets of the building compliance process. One of his roles involved managing all weathertightness and other building defects claims from initial assessment through to settlement, whether that be the result of a mediated negotiation, tribunal or court decision. In addition, Graeme also provided technical support to building inspectors and consent officers.
