Ridwan began his career as a Quantity Surveyor for a contractor in Canterbury, where he was involved in earthquake recovery projects. Dealing with the high volume of work associated with the Canterbury earthquake events, taught him the importance of prioritising work and being organised, traits he has prided himself on since.
Ridwan’s experience working for contractors gave him a good understanding of, and experience managing, the tender process and budgets, analysing cash flows and managing claims. He worked on numerous retail and residential projects, including seismic strengthening and refurbishments, and was lead Quantity Surveyor for various shopping mall projects.
Since joining Maynard Marks, Ridwan has developed experience of providing Quantity Surveying Services from the clients’ side. He is involved in a wide range of project types including multi-unit residential and aged care facility projects, where his role extends from completing initial cost estimates, tender analysis and contract administration through to final account.
Ridwan believes in the importance of creating relationships that will benefit the client and is able to get buy-in from stakeholders in order to influence project outcomes in a positive manner. His experience working for contractors and sub-contractors means he understands how things come together on site and what’s needed to run a smooth project.
Ridwan has a particular interest in innovation regarding the management of construction projects to create a more efficient project and, ultimately, add value.
Ridwan believes the key to success in any project is clear, concise and accurate information. To facilitate this he ensures he is transparent and open with all project parties.
Ridwan enjoys looking at projects from different perspectives and listening to others’ ideas in order to find the ideal solution for each project and present cost information in an easy-to-digest format.
He is currently working towards membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
