We are looking for an Architectural Designer in Christchurch to join our growing Design team. This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate or someone early in their architectural career who is keen to build strong technical foundations while working on a diverse range of projects across the built environment.
The role reports to our Senior Associate – Architectural Designer in Christchurch and works closely with the broader architectural team based in Auckland. This position is well suited to someone who enjoys working as part of a team, is detail‑focused, and wants exposure to real projects with guidance from experienced architectural and technical leaders.
As an Architectural Designer, you’ll support the delivery of architectural design services across small to medium projects, working under the guidance of senior team members. Your role will include:
- Assisting with the development of architectural drawings and specifications.
- Preparing accurate technical documentation in line with project requirements and building regulations.
- Supporting the preparation of consent documentation and responding to RFIs with supervision.
- Coordinating design updates and revisions with internal team members and external consultants.
- Maintaining organised project documentation, including drawings, specifications, and records.
- Attending site visits to observe progress, gather information, and support the wider project team.
- Contributing to safe, compliant, and high‑quality project delivery in line with company systems and standards.
You’ll be supported to develop your technical capability, industry knowledge, and confidence working with clients and project teams.
What you will bring to the team
We’re looking for someone who is motivated, organised, and keen to learn, with:
- A relevant architectural‑related Diploma or Degree qualification.
- A recent architectural graduate, preferably with 1 year+ experience working in an architectural practice.
- A basic understanding of the NZ Building Code and consent processes with a strong interest in developing this. Knowledge of NZBC E2/AS1 would be beneficial.
- Experience with ArchiCAD.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A collaborative and responsive approach and willingness to take guidance from senior team members.
- A full NZ driver licence (or working towards one) for site visits.
