Prior to joining Maynard Marks, Kim completed his Bachelor of Building Science in Victoria University, majoring in project management and sustainable engineering. His interest in the building industry stems from his desire to make a difference to people’s lives: because people spend so much of their lives inside, Kim wants to ensure buildings are comfortable and healthy to live and work in. He decided to become a Building Surveyor as it provided an opportunity to gain a broad understanding of buildings and be involved in a wide variety of work in the built environment at various stages of the life of buildings.

Since joining Maynard Marks, Kim has been involved in a wide range of building surveying work for schools, developers, bodies corporate and others, under the direction of senior Building Surveyors. This includes weathertightness investigation and reporting, dilapidation/schedules of condition survey and reports, insurance assessment and reinstatement and asbestos-related work.

A highly motivated, enthusiastic and ambitious professional, Kim enjoys the challenge of investigating buildings, uncovering the causes of a myriad of issues and developing solutions to fix these. He prides himself on providing a high level of client service and on producing and delivering high-quality reports within client deadlines. He has a thirst for knowledge and is driven by the plethora of opportunities to grow his professional knowledge and experience.

Kim is currently working towards becoming a Registered Building Surveyor with NZIBS, a Chartered Building Surveyor with RICS and a qualified asbestos assessor.
