Scott is a Registered Building Surveyor through the New Zealand Institute of Building Surveyors with a particular focus and specialisation as a passive fire specialist. He has extensive experience of auditing and identifying non-compliant fire rated construction on existing buildings, working with design teams to achieve passive fire compliance, specifying and designing passive fire safety systems and carrying out construction monitoring during the build process. He has worked on numerous projects for schools, hospitals, libraries, commercial buildings, residential apartments and hotels.

Prior to working as a passive fire consultant, Scott was employed as a Construction Manager for a major contractor on the Canterbury Recovery Project, which had up to 330 projects in construction at any one time. His role involved construction overview of 20 project managers, client relationship management, advising on commercial construction and technical building matters, project managing complex and problematic projects, engaging specialist subconsultants and auditing health & safety and quality assurance processes.

At Maynard Marks Scott is involved in the full range of building surveying services and consults on passive fire protection and related work. His constructive, practical approach ensures he focuses on what is relevant, rather than flooding clients with unnecessary information.
