He is considered a credible expert witness by his peers and the legal fraternity and has presented evidence at all levels of Court including the High Court.

Stuart has an established client base in the insurance industry, having been heavily involved with major loss claims throughout the Canterbury region, post-earthquake events and other significant and complex insured losses around New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.

In addition to providing expert services, Stuart has a specific interest and specialist skills in contract administration and has successfully managed many, often complex, construction projects as Engineer to the Contract.

Stuart has been heavily involved in the investigation and remediation of buildings affected by defective design and construction, often referred to as buildings suffering from ‘leaky building syndrome’, since his arrival in New Zealand in 2004. As a result, he has a nuts and bolts understanding of construction technology, forensic investigation techniques and the local legislative framework.

Stuart is involved in many other aspects of building surveying including: general building pathology, due diligence reporting, maintenance planning, dilapidation and condition surveying and asbestos management.

After immigrating to New Zealand from the UK, Stuart initially took up a role as a Building Compliance Officer for the largest Building Consent Authority in New Zealand. This provides him with further valuable knowledge of Territorial Authority practices.
