As Associate Director and Lead of the Auckland Project Management team, Mark is a highly experienced project manager and qualified building surveyor, who has worked on some of New Zealand’s largest and complex high rise building and school projects. His technical expertise, open-minded approach and can-do attitude, make him an ideal trouble shooter and problem solver on a broad range of construction issues.
During his career, Mark has been responsible for managing the design, costing, construction and handover of construction projects in New Zealand and South Africa. He has in-depth experience of procurement, financial analysis and project management, from the conceptual stage through to handing over completed buildings for bodies corporate, commercial, health and education clients.
Mark is an expert level building surveyor with extensive experience in building defect and asbestos investigations. He regularly undertakes cost analyses for projects and usually sits as project lead for the procurement and construction phases of projects. In 2006, Mark was a key expert witness to the Auckland High Court in the Dicks vs Hobson Swan case that has become a landmark case in further defining the roles and responsibilities of various parties in the construction process.
Mark is adept at crystalizing a coherent plan from copious amounts of unstructured ideas and information. His leadership skills assist clients to understand the available options and evaluate them to a sensible level of detail in order to make good decisions. Mark is a problem solver with a keen eye for the possible, yet he remains a realist when it comes to risk identification and management. He relieves clients of often complex issues and highlights the key factors that will significantly influence and deliver project success.
