Scott McIlraith

I'm a Chartered and Registered Building Surveyor, with specialist expertise in passive fire protection. I have extensive experience of auditing and identifying non-compliant fire rated construction on existing buildings, working with design teams to achieve passive fire compliance, and carrying out construction monitoring during the build process. I’ve worked on numerous projects for schools, hospitals, libraries, commercial buildings, residential apartments complexes and hotels.

At Maynard Marks, I deliver the full range of building surveying services. I have recently acted as an Expert Witness across both commercial and residential matters, providing clear, relevant advice that supports resolution. My approach is constructive and practical, ensuring clients receive focused and relevant insights without unnecessary complexity.

Prior to working as a Consultant, I was employed as a Construction Manager for a major contractor on the Canterbury Recovery Project which worked with IAG Insurance customers to rebuild after the Canterbury Earthquakes. The rebuild project had up to 330 active projects in construction at any one time. My role involved construction overview of 20 project managers, client relationship management, advising on commercial construction and technical building matters, project managing complex and problematic projects, engaging specialist subconsultants and auditing health & safety and quality assurance processes.
